DON’T READ THIS !
They are coming for your guns, and as a reasonable person you know that is not happening today, although you understand they want to do it slowly, turning up the heat little by little, hoping you won’t notice. You go about your day and you hear the news. . . the debate . . . people talking about it. . . as they are slowly chipping away at your right to keep and bear arms.
You know the analogy of a frog in water and have the forethought to know your rights are being chipped away slowly, immeasurably, but chipped away nonetheless. As you imagine, when that frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, it feels the danger. When the frog starts with cool, comfortable water that is slowly heated, little-by-little, it won’t notice the danger, and will be cooked to death.
Are You The Frog?
Only the frog would sit and do nothing. Right now the government is trying to ban assault weapons, firearms with pistol grips and high capacity magazines. What is next? Semi automatic handguns, rifles? Then revolvers? Ammunition?
Pretty soon we will be down to slingshots, rocks and stones.
We have lost so many rights in the last few years its incomprehensible. They may be small, but they start to add up in a hurry, do you know. The defense of the Second Amendment and the rights it bestows upon us is not a Republican one, nor a Democratic one, it is YOUR right, the right of the People. YOU are the “People”
The Second Amendment is our Birthright.
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."“The right is not granted by the amendment; its existence is assumed.” ~Copperud.
We must ensure that our rights are to be passed on to future generations. The Founding Fathers had courage and resolve in crafting the nation’s inception.
"The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." Thomas Jefferson.
Do We Beg?
Do we beg our elected representatives not to take away our rights, and continue regarding them as representing us if they do?
“Governments will use the excuse of trying to protect the people from maniacs and crime. But in reality, it is the bureaucrats protecting their power and position." Said Mishin.
Our Elected Lawmakers IGNORE the Second Amendment
Our elected lawmakers- judges, and appointed officials who have PLEGED to defend the Constitution of the United States ignore and marginalize the Second Amendment routinely.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), staunch defender of the rest of the Bill of Rights, stands by and does nothing when it comes to the 2nd Amendment.
“If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government - and a few outlaws."~ Edward Abbey.
The Constitution of the United States unconditionally protects the people's right to keep and bear arms, forbidding all governments formed under the Constitution from abridging that right.
It is your responsibility to protect these rights.
“The right to bear arms is not about hunting. It’s not about target practice. The right to bear arms is a political right designed to safeguard freedom so that no government can take away from you the rights that God has given you.” ~Newt Gingrich.
It is up to those who believe in the right to keep and bear arms to preserve that right. No one else will. No one else can.
“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms… disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes… Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” ~Thomas Jefferson.
The Criminals have guns and always will.
According to the British Government, the ones that banned handguns and confiscated handguns in the first place, within the last decade, crime with handguns has doubled! Gun crime that was not a serious problem in the past, NOW IS! Gun control has left the citizens at the mercy of the criminals who now have the confidence their victims don’t have the means to protect themselves.
In Australia the gun ban has not gone so well either.
Australia banned all semi-automatic rifles, semi-automatic shotguns, pump action shotguns and imposed a draconian licensing system on all other firearms with their National Firearms Agreement in 1996.They also instituted a forced buyback scheme to remove thousands of firearms from law-abiding citizens. They purchased and destroyed over Six Hundred and Thirty Thousand Guns that cost the taxpayers over $500 Million.
A lot of guns destroyed? Yes! Especially when you consider the total ENTIRE population of Australia is equal to JUST the population of New York City alone.
To what end?
The Australian Institute of Criminology reported in 2008, an increase of over 40% in assaults and 20% in sexual assaults. Again, gun control has left the citizens at the mercy of the criminals who now have the confidence their victims don’t have the means to protect themselves. England and Australia, often lauded as poster children for gun control don’t provide much evidence that strict gun control will solve the US problems, when in fact it proves just the opposite.
What Can I do?
As you notice the growing debate and find yourself either very active and vocal, or quietly seething over the threat to our rights, you feel the need to express your sentiment. You see this as a threat to our fundamental rights and do not wish to just sit on the sidelines. The urge to do something about it. As you go thru your day and are reminded by what you see in the news and what you hear on the radio, other people talking about. What do you do? What can you do?
